Do not memorize HSK 1 words as isolated English pairs

HSK 1 words are simple, but they only become useful when you can put them into sentences. Words like 想, 有, 是, 去, 吃, 喝, and 喜欢 should be practiced in questions and answers.

For example, instead of only memorizing 喜欢 = like, practice 你喜欢喝茶吗? and 我喜欢喝咖啡. This builds recall and sentence rhythm at the same time.

Group words by real situations

Group beginner vocabulary around meals, family, time, school, shopping, and directions. This makes HSK 1 practice more useful than alphabetical lists.

Scenario practice also reveals missing words quickly. If you cannot answer a restaurant prompt, you know exactly which food, measure word, or polite phrase to review next.

Review your own mistakes

The best beginner vocabulary list is the one created from your actual mistakes. Save corrected words and phrases, then review them with spaced repetition so they return before you forget them.
